The Long family continues extensive involvement in community service projects.
Ash Long is an active Freemason, in his 40th year of service.
Through Freemasonry, he has been integral in the foundation of an ongoing scholarship for a student to attend Ivanhoe Grammar School.
Along with fellow members of the Ivanhoe Grammarians Lodge, he was responsible in establishing bursaries for students at local schools.
Ash Long was a Charter Member of the Rotary Club of Yea, one of its Past Presidents, and was named a Paul Harris Fellow.
Ash was a member of that club for 10 years, and was also a member at the Rotary Club of Rosanna.
Early in his business career, Ash was President of the Bayswater Chamber of Commerce, and was also elected President of the Preston and Reservoir Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
He was a member of the National Promotions and Marketing Committee of the Australian Suburban Newspapers’ Association.
He was a Board Member of Allied Suburban Newspapers.
Ash Long was a member of the Victorian Country Press Association for 10 years. He was named the statewide Westpac Award winner for ‘Best Local Reporting’.
Fleur Long was vitally involved in community service projects in Yea including Rotary, as a Girl Guides/Brownies leader, and as a coach with the Yea Water Tigers Amateur Swimming Club.
The Longs provided more than $1.3 million in free advertising to businesses in the Victorian bushfire recovery area after the tragic Black Saturday fires of 2009.
